• Chemicals added to plastics are absorbed by human bodies. Many of the toxic compounds have been found to alter hormones or have other potential health effects on humans and animals
• Plastic debris, laced with chemicals and often ingested by marine animals, can injure or poison wildlife and potentially us
• Large to microscopic plastic waste can survive hundreds of years in water, and serves as mini transportation devices for invasive species, disrupting habitats
• Plastic buried deep in landfills can leach harmful chemicals that spread into groundwater
• Producing the bottles for American consumption required the equivalent of more than 17 million barrels of oil, not including the energy for transportation
• It takes 3 liters of water to produce 1 liter of bottled water

More evidence is compiling that the chemical building blocks that make plastics are the same components that are harming our health and the environment. 

People are exposed to chemicals from plastic multiple times per day through the air, dust, water, food and use of consumer products. This CBS News YouTube video published on March 15 , 2018 validates that bottled water is NOT the best healthiest choice for our health and the environment.
